Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has arrived on a special plane with senior officials of her ministry at four Thursday afternoon. She will start political meetings from today itself.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has called Swaraj's visit continuity of the tradition of regular high-level political exchanges between the two countries.
This is the seventh time Swaraj is visiting Nepal since assuming office in 2014.
This will be the first visit of a high-level Indian leader since the left alliance won majority in the recent federal and provincial assembly elections. CPN-UML, the largest party after the recent elections, will host a banquet at Soaltee Crown Plaza in honor of Swaraj Thursday evening. She will talk with UML Chairman KP Oli during the banquet, according to UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang.
Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) Keshav Jha told Setoapti that she will also meet RJP leaders at Soaltee after eight in the evening. Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Chairman Upendra Yadav, who is in Saptari, is also coming to the hotel to meet Swaraj.
Swaraj will visit President Bidhya Dev Bhandari and Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba, who also has the foreign ministry, on Friday. She will meet President Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas at noon and then go to Baluwatar to meet PM Deuba.
She will also meet CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.
