The left alliance has decided sharing of tickets for the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for February 7.
CPN-UML will file candidacy for 29 seats and CPN (Maoist Center) 14 as per the sharing arrangements. A total of 56 members, eight from each province, will be elected for the National Assembly which will be completed with nomination of three members by the President on recommendation of the government.
The two parties had formed a joint task force for recommendation of candidates for the National Assembly elections. The meeting of the coordination committee for unification of two parties held at residence of UML Chairman KP Oli in Balkot Sunday afternoon has decided the sharing of tickets as recommended by the task force.
The meeting, also attended by Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has also formed a task force under UML leader Bam Dev Gautam to advise the next government in good governance, and programs for prosperity and development. The task force also includes Bhim Rawal, Bijay Paudel, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Barsha Man Pun and Min Bahadur Shrestha.
The meeting also discussed party unification but no solid decisions were made, according to Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha. "We have reached understanding to again convene a meeting after discussion between the two chairmen, and form a task force for homework on organizational and ideological issues," Shrestha added.
