Cabinet to meet at 4 to announce date for National Assembly election

An emergency Cabinet meeting has been called at four Friday afternoon to announce the date of National Assembly election and appointment of provincial chiefs. Senior media expert to Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba Govinda Pariyar said the Cabinet meeting will be held at the PM's residence in Baluwatar after PM Deuba returns from the meeting with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at the President's Office. "The announcement of election date will be made most probably today," Pariyar told Setopati. The Election Commission (EC) has recommended February 8 as the date of election to the government. The five national parties on Thursday had also authorized the government to announce the date of National Assembly election and appointment of provincial chiefs during an all-party meeting called by PM Deuba at Baluwatar.
