Halls for HoR and National Assembly being prepared (Photos)

Construction of the meeting halls for House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly is being done at full pace at the International Convention Center (ICC) at Baneshwor. The Parliament Secretariat has already signed lease agreement to use the ICC, that also housed the two Constituent Assemblies, for six years with the provision of renewal every two years. The Parliament Secretariat is using the ICC by paying Rs 105.80 million annually after its own building at Singha Durbar was devastated by the Gorkha earthquake. Meanwhile, different colors are being used in the meeting halls for HoR and National Assembly to provide them a distinct identity. As per the international practice of color selection, red color is being used in the Upper House and blue, which is the symbol of peace, in the Lower House. The arrangements have been made for using the front part of the Nuptse Hall for 59 members of National Assembly and the back part for journalists and audiences. Chambers for National Assembly chairman, vice-chairman, HoR speaker, prime minister and leader of the main opposition party are also being prepared. Construction works of meeting halls are set to be completed by January 29.
