Leaders of the left alliance have authorized the government to appoint provincial chiefs and choose temporary provincial capitals.
The leaders of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) during the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter's residence in Baluwatar Thursday morning also urged the government to announce February 8 as the date for election of National Assembly as recommended by the Election Commission (EC).
Maoist Center leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the government has been advised to appoint provincial chiefs and choose temporary provincial capitals in a way that power is transferred to elected people's representatives soon.
Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Paudel also confirmed that parties have authorized the government to appoint provincial chiefs and choose temporary provincial capitals. PM Deuba told the parties that he is ready to appoint provincial chiefs in consensus with all the parties.
Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) has advised the government to appoint matured and experienced individuals as provincial chiefs to ensure there is no controversy. RJP leader Raj Kishor Yadav said the government has also been advised to use wisdom while choosing temporary provincial capitals.
PM Deuba called the all-party meeting after the EC urged the government to not make any delay in appointment of provincial chiefs and selection of temporary provincial capitals.
Former speaker Subas Nembang, UML Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal, Bishnu Paudel and Agni Kharel represented the party in the all-party meeting. CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Dahal represented Maoist Center. PM Deuba, and leaders Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Sitaula represented NC.
Member of the chairman council of RJP Mahantha Thakur, Anil Jha, Mahindra Raya Yadav and Raj Kishor Yadav, and Rajendra Shrestha and other Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) leaders were also present in the meeting.
