The Election Commission (EC) has given three days to six political parties to correct the proportional representation (PR) lists for provincial assemblies after finding them to have violated order.
The EC has instructed Nepali Congress (NC), Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP), Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN), RPP, Rastriya Janamorcha, and Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch to correct their lists within three days after finding errors in their respective lists.
EC Spokesperson Dinesh Ghimire said NC has violated the order of closed list sent to the EC before election. EC has told NC to correct the final list after finding that the persons ranked higher were overlooked and those lower in the closed list were included.
EC has told RPP and Rastriya Janamorcha to correct their lists after they recommended a man for the only seat they won in PR system. Parties that win just a provincial assembly seat in PR system should recommend a woman for that seat, as per the guidelines for Provincial Assembly Election.
"Order of many parties has been violated. Many lower down the closed list have been recommended instead of those listed higher," Ghimire said. "There is no way EC will accept that."
The parties will have to submit a corrected list to EC within three days. The EC will then submit the list of persons elected to the provincial assemblies to the respective provincial chiefs.
NC has won 72 provincial seats through PR system, FSFN 13, RJP 12, RPP three, Rastriya Janamorcha two and Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch one.
