The Supreme Court on Sunday has asked the Fulbari Resort of Pokhara to pay tax to the government.
A division bench of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli and Justice Bam Kumar Shrestha issued the verdict that the resort could not evade its duty to submit the tax and VAT to the government's revenue.
Resort proprietor Piyush Bahadur Amatya had demanded that the government provided discount to it on the tax and VAT as the hotel was run in the conflict period.
With this order, the resort is liable to pay the tax amounting more than Rs 3 billion.
