Top leader of Ratriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) Laxman Lal Karna has said CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will decide who will become the next prime minister (PM).
"Dahal is the kingmaker now. A government including Nepali Congress (NC) and other parties can also be formed if he wishes so. But we cannot say for sure now," he stated.
Speaking in a program organized by Reporter's Club on Saturday, he pointed that the left alliance has yet to decide who will become chairman of the unified party and who will head the government.
"I have said long time ago from this very forum that we are not into politics to become a saint or sage. The main course of politics is government," he stressed conceding that RJP wants to join government. He, however, claimed that the party's priority now is constitution amendment and withdrawal of 'false cases' against the party leaders and cadres, and not government. "We are still in agitation. We used this election as an agitation. Our agitation will now start in the parliament. We have not thought about the agitation outside the parliament," he clarified.
He said the party is ready to join the government if anyone were to initiate constitution amendment and withdrawal of 'false cases' against the party leaders and cadres. He argued that win of RJP leader Resham Chaudhary from Kailali has already proved that the government has lodged 'false cases' against the party's leaders and cadres. "The government must, therefore, withdraw the 'false cases'. The previous government has done many things. The next government should take a decision on that," he stated.
He clarified that his party does not have any animosity toward CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli as he is also a leader of a Nepali party. "We are focused on issues instead of supporting or boycotting anyone," he said.
He also claimed that Madhes-based parties will form government in Province 2.
