The CPN-UML Kathmandu constituency-8 has started a clean-up drive to maintain the cleanliness around Basantapur and its periphery. The Basantapur area is a World Heritage Site.
Under the clean-up drive, the banners, festoons, pamphlets and other materials pasted on and put up at various locations in the area during the election publicity campaign would be removed to restore the beauty of the area.
Kathmandu constituency number 8 covers Ward Number 13, 15, 19, 20, 23 and 24 of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Ward Number 4 and 5 of Nagarjun Municipality.
All these areas would be cleaned up in a week's time, it is stated.
House of Representatives member Jeevan Ram Shrestha, who was elected from the constituency, initiated the cleaning drive by removing the election publicity materials.
