Finance Minister Karki elected from Sunsari-4

Finance Minister and Nepali Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has emerged victorious as the member of House of Representatives from Sunsari constituency-4. According to the vote count results made public Monday morning, Karki edged Ramesh Shrestha of the left alliance by 6,597 votes. Karki secured 32,347 votes against 25,750 of Shrestha. Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Jaya Kumar Rai registered the victory in the election to the House of Representatives from Sunsari constituency-1. Rai trailed senior leader of Federal Socialist Forum Ashok Kumar Rai by 22,405 votes. Jayakumar received 44,528 votes whereas Ashok Rai got 22,123. It may be noted that the Nepali Congress has also supported Ashok Rai in the constituency.
