Poudel loses for first time in parliamentary polls

Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel's 26-year unbeaten run in parliamentary elections has been ended by CPN-UML's Kisan Kumar Shrestha. The left alliance candidate beat Poudel, who had won five general elections after restoration of democracy in 1990, by 6,814 votes. Shrestha secured 34,489 votes while Poudel got 27,675 votes.
