The Ministry of Finance has made public the salary scale effective from July 17 of the current fiscal year 2026-27.
A Cabinet meeting held on July 22 made decisions regarding the new salary scale, grades, technical grades, and incentive allowances.
The government had announced a 10 percent increase in the salary scale and a 10 percent incentive allowance through the budget on May 29.
The ministry informed government bodies about the new salary scale through a correspondence on Wednesday.
Civil servants, personnel of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, health service employees, parliamentary service staff, teachers working in community schools, and employees of provincial and local governments (for pension purposes) will receive the new salary scales specified in Schedules 1 to 8. They will also receive a grade amount equivalent to one day's salary, as well as a monthly incentive allowance equal to 10 percent of the revised salary.
According to the new pay scale, the starting monthly salary has been set at Rs 84,932 for the chief secretary, Rs 79,290 for gazetted special class officers, and Rs 66,539 for additional secretaries (for pension purposes).
Similarly, the monthly salary for gazetted first class officers has been fixed at Rs 62,466, for gazetted second class officers at Rs 53,611, and for gazetted third class officers at Rs 48,058.
For non-gazetted employees, the salary for non-gazetted first class (additional pay scale for pension purposes) has been set at Rs 41,517, for non-gazetted first class at Rs 38,203, for non-gazetted second class (additional pay scale for pension purposes) at Rs 37,407, for non-gazetted second class at Rs 36,192, for non-gazetted third class at Rs 30,373, and non-gazetted fourth class at Rs 28,690.
