Contractor Sharad Gauchan was murdered over a dispute for Rs 10 million, according to the police.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Sameer Man Basnet, the mastermind of the murder of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) chairman Gauchan.
Chief of CIB Pushkar Karki addressing the media in a press conference Sunday afternoon said Gauchan was shot after he refused to pay Rs 10 million to Basnet.
Gangster Kumar Ghaite, who was killed by the police in August, 2015, and Gauchan were partners in Gajur Mukhi Construction Services with the gangster investing Rs 25 million. Basnet had a stake of Rs 10 million in the share of Ghainte, according to the police.

Basnet planned Gauchan’s murder after the latter refused to return the Rs 10 million, DIG Karki revealed during the press conference.
Gauchan was shot at Shantinagar, Kathmandu on October 9.
