At least seven persons have been killed when a passenger bus fell into the Trishuli river after colliding with a truck in Fisling, Dhading Wednesday morning. The bus (Lu 2 Kha 291) going to Arghakhanchi from Kathmandu collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction and fell around 200 meters below into Trishuli, according to the police.
Four of the deceased passengers are men and two women, according to DSP with Chitwan Police Prabhu Dhakal.
The police have rescued 21 passengers including. Five of them have been brought to Kathmandu for further treatment while 16 have been taken to Bharatpur. Two persons are in critical condition.
The total number of passengers who were travelling in the ill-fated bus is yet to be known but the police fear that there may have been more than 40 passengers. The bus has left the bus park in Balaju with 26 passengers and three staffers including the driver.
"It is not clear how many passengers boarded from Kalanki and on the way from there," DSP Dhakal stated. "Another 15 persons may have boarded the bus," he added.
The bus has sunk into the river.
Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) men along with locals are currently involved in rescue works.
