The main tunnel of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectricity Project has been constructed.
Construction works of the main tunnel were completed this morning. High officials including Energy Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyaya and Nepal Electricity Authority executive director Kulman Ghising witnessed the completion of the construction works.
The project's works have made a 92 percent progress with the construction of the 8.5-km long tunnel. The project with the capacity of generating 456 Megawatt power is planned for completion next year.
Digging of two vertical tunnels, the most difficult works of the project, was already completed on September 16. According to the project, 90 percent of the headwork construction and 99 percent works on the construction of underground powerhouse has been completed so far.
