Nepal Army rescues 123 people, including foreign nationals

Following the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, the Nepal Army has rescued 123 people who had been stranded or missing as of Thursday morning.

According to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s press team, the Army carried out the rescues using helicopters.

Of those rescued, 95 people were safely evacuated from the Timure area of Rasuwa alone. The Nepal Army said that eight of the 95 were foreign nationals.

“Preparations are underway to bring the foreign nationals to Kathmandu by helicopter, while the rest will be taken to Dhunche,” the prime minister’s press team said.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Army said that seven people trapped inside a tunnel at a hydropower project in Haku, Rasuwa, were rescued alive, while rescue operations are continuing in three other tunnels.

The Nepal Army is also continuing efforts to rescue and bring to Kathmandu 21 Indian tourists who had been stranded in the Timure area of Rasuwa.
