The Patan High Court has issued an interim order preventing the arrest of journalist Kishor Shrestha.
A bench of Judge Achyut Kuikel issued the order on Wednesday.
“Until the final disposal of the petition concerning the news published on August 12, 2026, an interim order has been issued in the name of respondent no. 2 under Rule 42 of the High Court Rules, 2016, directing that the petitioner not be harassed, arrested, detained,” the court order states.
On August 12, the Jana Aastha Weekly had published a report related to Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari Thakur.
The high court issued the interim order against Shrestha’s arrest based on the fact that proceedings over the report are being handled through the Press Council, as well as a mandamus order previously issued by the Supreme Court.
