Another Nepali female student has been found dead at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India.
Indian media reported that Nepali student Prisha Shah was found dead in the university’s hostel.
Shankar Prasad Sharma, Nepal’s ambassador to India, confirmed the incident.
"The news came from Odisha. We spoke with the chief secretary of the Odisha government and the police commissioner. It is said that upon opening the hostel room, the student was found to have apparently died by suicide. A detailed police report will come tomorrow," Ambassador Sharma told Setopati.
A student studying at the same university said that Prisha was pursuing a B.Tech degree there.
According to Indian media, Prisha's body was found hanging in her hostel room.
The police have recorded statements and sent the body for forensic examination, the student said, adding that further investigation is underway.
This marks the second death of a Nepali student at KIIT in less than three months. On February 16, another Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, was found dead at the university.
