The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to unfreeze the bank accounts of two hospitals operated by Durga Prasai.
On Monday, a bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal issued the interim order in favor of B&C Medical Teaching Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. and Purbanchal Cancer Hospital Pvt. Ltd., according to Supreme Court spokesperson Achyut Kuinkel.
Anjali Karki, the operations director of the hospitals, had filed two writ petitions on Sunday demanding the unfreezing of the bank accounts.
She had named 14 defendants including the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police in the petitions.
Both hospitals are operated by Durga Prasai, who is currently in custody at the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Both hospitals were blacklisted while Prasai was being investigated.
Karki sought an interim order to unfreeze the hospitals’ bank accounts saying they could not carry out transactions after being blacklisted.
The Supreme Court has also issued a show-cause order in the case.
