The District Administration Office, Kaski has announced prohibitory orders across the district including Pokhara Metropolitan City effective from Tuesday midnight. The orders will be in place until August 23 midnight.
The COVID-19 prevention committee of Pokhara had written to the provincial government and district administration to issue prohibitory orders in the metropolis from Monday midnight following an all-party meeting on Sunday.
The provincial COVID-19 committee under Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung after a meeting Monday evening decided that the district administration should take a call considering the situation.
Assistant Chief District Officer Guru Dutta Adhikari told Setopati that the administration has accordingly decided to impose prohibitory orders in the whole district including Pokhara effective from Tuesday midnight. "We urge everyone to not indulge in non-essential activities," Dhakal said.
The administration has also decided to prohibit gatherings in the upcoming Hindu festivals including Kushe Aunsi (Father's Day), Teej and Rishi Panchami and Dhakal accepted that the announcement has been made precisely to stop such gatherings.
A total of 219 persons have been infected in Pokhara while 90 are still in quarantine. Four persons have died of the virus in Pokhara but just one is a resident of the metropolis.
