An 18-year-old girl from Pokhariya, Parsa has posthumously tested positive for COVID-19.
COVID-19 focal person at National Medical College, Birgunj Dr Ashraf Hussain said the girl was referred to the hospital by Pokhariya Hospital Monday night. "Pokhariya Hospital had referred her to us in a critical condition after she suffered nausea. We had declared her dead on arrival," Dr Hussain said.
The hospital had kept the body and sent her swab for test after the local administration said she was a suspected COVID-19 patient. He said the test report that arrived Tuesday night showed she was infected.
The person who accompanied her to the hospital has said she did not have any prior condition. Her travel history has yet to be traced.
The body is still at the hospital and the Nepal Army will conduct the funeral.
This is the 59th COVID-19 death reported in Nepal.
