Supreme Court Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal has gone on leave.
According to a Supreme Court source, he went on leave for a few days starting Tuesday.
He got his leave approved by Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma from November 3 to 6. Tihar holidays begin right after that.
“He has taken personal leave from November 3 to 6,” the source said.
Recently, screenshots of conversations between Justice Phuyal and Inam Sapkota, who is in custody for an investigation into money laundering, were made public. Following the conversation, Phuyal and Sapkota also met at Himalayan Hotel.
Phuyal has said that other judges were also present at the hotel. He has maintained that although the meeting took place, they did not engage in any wrongdoing related to court cases.
He has also claimed that, following the meeting, he and other judges informed the government about Sapkota after finding him suspicious.
Meanwhile, a full court meeting was held at the Supreme Court on Monday after questions were raised about the judiciary itself. The meeting urged the relevant authorities to investigate the matter and establish the facts.
