Landslides caused by torrential rain since Thursday night have left seven people dead and 12 injured. Four persons were killed and nine injured in different places of Pokhara while three died and three more injured in Lamjung.
Three people lost their lives when the landslide buried the house of Tanka Bahadur Thapa at Pokhara metropolis-18, Sarangkot, Gotahdi at around 2.45 Friday morning. Other six people injured in the incident were rescued and taken to Manipal Teaching Hospital and Western Regional Hospital for treatment, shared spokesperson of the Kaski District Police Office DSP Subas Hamal.
As Thapa family was set to mark a birthday celebration on Thursday, it was not ascertained who were inside the landslide-hit house, DSP Hamal added. Police and locals had joined hands to rescue the injured from the landslide debris.
Likewise, a landslide buried Bhimkali Adhikari, 70, to death at Pokhara metropolis-25, Hemja, police confirmed. The incident occurred when the landslide buried the house of her son Ramchandra Adhikari. Though no other human casualties were reported in the incident, three goats were buried in the debris, it was informed.
Three members of a family in Satbise of Besisahar municipality 7 in Lamjung died when their house was swept away by landslide Thursday night. They have been identified as Deepak Tamang, Bimaya Gurung and Chhewang Tamang. Three persons were injured in the incident, according to the police.
