A COVID-19 infected man on ventilator at the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadi has died Wednesday.
"He breathed his last at 8:52 in the night," Communication Officer with the hospital Dilip Shrestha told Setopati. "We have already informed the army. The funeral will be held on Thursday."
The 46-year-old from Godavari municipality 4 had tested positive on June 14. He was referred to the hospital from a private hospital in Dhangadi after testing positive.
He was put on ventilator at the Seti Provincial Hospital due to respiratory problems accompanied by high fever. The hospital had requested the provincial government to refer the patient to Kathmandu as his condition did not improve.
He was bus driver who drove people from the border to quarantine facilities.
He becomes the 22nd person to die of COVID-19 in Nepal.
A woman who died at Nepalgunj Medical College of Kohalpur earlier on Wednesday has also tested positive for COVID-19. Chief District Officer (CDO) of Banke Ram Bahadur Kurumbang confirmed that the woman tested positive.
"She had died at 11 Wednesday morning. The report that arrived in the evening showed she was positive. We are preparing to do the funeral rites using the army team," he stated.
The 43-year-old woman from Lamkichuwa municipality 2 was admitted at the medical college on June 13 with neurological problems. Her swab was sent for test before surgery.
This was the 21st COVID-19 death reported by Nepal.
A woman from Nepal, who had committed suicide on Monday, had also posthumously been confirmed positive earlier on Wednesday. The Health Ministry has yet to decide whether to count her in the COVID-19 death toll or not.
