Dr Govinda KC has started a two-day Satyagraha, a non-violent fight for truth, in Darchula on Tuesday demanding that the encroached territory be taken back.
Dr KC, who started the fight at 10 Tuesday morning, has also included the issues of health, education and employment in his demands.
Issuing a statement, Dr KC has acknowledged that the government has met a few of the demands in the past but pointed they have been violated now. He has accused the government of turning a blind eye even as people in the border areas suffer in lack of basic medicines like oral rehydration salts, have to go to another country to earn two square meals and are duped and exploited there, and are robbed when returning home.
"Merely chanting slogans in the streets in Kathmandu and making loud proclamations from Baluwatar Durbar don't suffice if nationalism is really to be strengthened and the country's borders protected," he has said in the statement.
