The total number of persons infected with COVID-19 in Nepal is into double figures with samples of the three Indians staying in Birgunj sent to Kathmandu returning positive result. The total number has now reached 12 with nine Nepali nationals.
The three have been kept in isolation at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj. The hospital has shut down all kinds of OPD services apart from emergency after confirmation of COVID-19.
The administration had made arrangements for tests after locals informed about 24 Indian nationals staying at a mosque in Chhapkaiya, Birgunj-2. A team of Narayani Sub-regional Hospital had extracted their swab and sent that to the laboratory in Hetauda.
The samples were sent to Kathmandu for confirmation on Saturday after the laboratory in Hetauda showed three of them had COVID-19.
