3 killed as Summit Air plane loses control while taking off and hits chopper at Lukla

Three persons have been killed when a Summit Air plane taking-off for Kathmandu slipped on the tarmac and hit a Manang Air parked at the Lukla Airport Sunday morning. Co-pilot of the Summit Air plane Sujit Dhungana and Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of the Nepal Police deployed for security of the airport Ram Bahadur Khadka were killed on the spot while another ASI Rudra Bahadur Shrestha breathed his last while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu, according to the police. "We have received preliminary information that the plane taking off from the airport lost control and hit the chopper," Chief District Officer (CDO) of Solukhumbu Narendra Kumar Rai told Setopati. Chief at the Tribhuvan International Airport Raj Kumar Chhetri said the injured persons have been flown on a chopper to Kathmandu for treatment. They are undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital.
