A Pokhara-based Nepali Congress leader died of altitude sickness in Manang.
Saroj Adhikari of around 35 years of age of Pokhara-33 who had been in Manang for a trip to the Tilicho Lake along the Annapurna Circuit suffered altitude sickness at Shree Kharka while on his way back from the lake, District Police Office, Manang's deputy superintendent of police Khadka Bahadur Khatri quoted Adhikari’s colleagues as saying.
Though he was rescued from Shreekharka and brought to the Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara Wednesday morning, he died later while undergoing treatment. The body has been kept at the Gandaki Hospital Pokhara for post-mortem examinations.
He had left for the lake on October 21. The lake is situated at an altitude of 4,919 meters in the Annapurna range.
