Chief of the National Information Commission (NIC) Krishna Hari Baskota Tuesday stressed the need for establishing a provincial information commission in all seven provinces.
A Commission's board should be opened at all 753 local levels under coordination of vice chairperson of a ward or deputy mayor of a municipality, he said talking to RSS in Panchthar's Phidim.
"Article 27 of the constitution has guaranteed the right to seek and provide information to every Nepali citizen. It, however, lacks the right to dissemination of information in line with the Human Rights Declaration 1947, which need to be incorporated in the constitution" he asserted.
He also rued the failure of the state bodies to provide information easily to media persons, let alone fulfilling the need to disseminate information as advertisement. "The government bodies should provide information at people's doorsteps," he added.
