The viral infection that had spread in Bung-2 of Mahakulung rural municipality has come under control. The viral has been controlled over 90 percent and there is no need to be concerned about it now, said chief of the District Health Office, Solukhumbu Dr Mingmar Tshering Sherpa.
More than 500 people including children and elderly were affected with the viral infection including high fever, cough, diarrhea and headache in the past one week. Of them, 504 people had to be treated, Dr Sandu Sherpa at the primary health center said.
A rapid response team had been sent to the affected area from the District Health Office. The team is currently working on promoting health education in order to stop any further infection. Health message has been translated into local Rai language to address the significantly large population of Rai community.
Meanwhile, a meeting is being held to decide whether to open the local Pelmang basic school, which remains closed since Tuesday following the outbreak of the viral infection, the school principal Tanka Bahadur Dahal said.
