The Human Organ Transplant Center, Bhaktapur has so far performed the kidney transplant on 386 patients.
Coming into operation on 23 April 2012, the Center has transplanted kidney on 104 patients during the past nine months, shard Center's Executive Director Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha.
He informed that the Center provides hemodialysis service to 100 patients daily under its 24-hour service.
Director Shrestha further informed that the Center has successfully transplanted kidney and lever received from the brain-dead person for the first time in Nepal and also provided Endoscopic Ultrasound service, first of its kind at the government hospital, to the patients.
The Center has increased its service with rising in the number of kidney patients on the one hand and on the other it is launching open heart surgery service for the first time in Bhaktapur soon, Dr Shrestha informed.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on January 1 took the decision to change its name to Dharmabhakta Human Organ Transplant Center. He said the name board of the center will be changed once the circular is received from Ministry of Health.
