A 62-year-old man was found dead in bed Tuesday morning at Saptakoshi municipality-1 in Saptari, the district in the southern plains. It is presumed that local Arjun Pokhrel died due to hypothermia, Saptari’s deputy superintendent of police Dhruba Kumar Shrestha said.
The body has been brought to the Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj for post-mortem examinations.
Cold wave and biting cold have made the life difficult in the district for the past one week. So far, cold has been blamed for the death of 19 people in this winter in the district, however, only seven have been confirmed that they died due to the brutal winter weather conditions.
Similarly, a woman sustained severe burn injuries as fire caught her saree while she was sitting near a bonfire to keep herself warm. She is Sanju Mehata, 35, of Krishnashawaran rural municipality-2 in the district. Her lower body part has been burnt by the fire, as police said. She was referred to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan from the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital
