Businesspersons of Sunsari district have expressed concern about the recent price hike of cement and steel rod and warned of a nationwide protest if the price increase is not revoked.
"The price increase has beaten the consumers, and this has drawn our attention," they said at a press conference in Itahari, on Monday.
The price of cement has gone up by Rs 100 per sack (50 kilograms), while steel rod by Rs seven per kg as compared to prices beforehand.
They have also urged the government to take a step to address the matter.
Speaking at the event, an entrepreneur leader Bhola Niraula said the exorbitant price hike of cement and steel rod has indicated the absence of the government. "The price hike should be canceled at the earliest."
