Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has stressed the need of making provision to discourage hate speech in the name of freedom of expression.
The 20th National Council meeting of HURPES recently held in Rautahat decided that hate speech should be punished and atrocity should not be promoted in the name of human rights and freedom to express.
A press release issued Wednesday by the HURPES stated that the Council meeting expressed commitment that HURPES would always be active for protecting and promoting human rights, peace, democracy and non-violence.
