The reconstruction of Rani Pokhari has been halted for 15 days.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Department of Archaeology (DoA) and the various stakeholders on Thursday morning held a meeting and decided to immediately halt reconstruction of Rani Pokhari, according to Director General of DoA Bhesh Narayan Dahal.
"We've formed a team of experts and that team will submit its report in 15 days," Dahal said, "The meeting has decided to halt the reconstruction works until the team furnishes its report."
The team of experts under former DoA Director General Bishnu Raj Karki includes 11 members including Surya Bhakta Sangachhe and cultural expert Prof. Sudarshan Raj Tiwari.
Dahal informed that the meeting has also decided to include Defense Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan, chairmen of Kathmandu metropolis-27 and 28 and mayoral candidate of Kathmandu metropolis Ranju Darshana as advisors to the team.
Earlier, the Culture Minister had directed the DoA to immediately halt the ongoing reconstruction work of Rani Pokhari.
The Gorkha earthquake had damaged the Rani Pokhari area.
