The six teenage dalit girls missing from Tulsipur, Dang are held captive in a hotel in Pokhara, the police have said citing the guardians who were informed so by some of the missing girls through the social media.
The six dalit girls, most of whom are school-going and aged 14 years, have been out of contact since Sunday morning when they left their respective homes for tuition at the school. School uniform and bags of some of them were later recovered from one of the missing girl's home, according to the police.
The guardians had collectively lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday urging for help in search of the missing girls. "A few of them have apparently told their guardians that they are in a hotel in Pokhara through Facebook," Chief of Area Police Office, Tulsipur DSP Prakash Sapkota told Setopati. "I have now called guardians of all the girls to the police office. We will initiate rescue of the girls immediately if the information is correct," he added.
The police suspect the girls have been held captive in hotel and sexually exploited. "We have heard that a few girls urged their guardians for immediate rescue. We will investigate and look to rescue them if that is true," he assured.
The police had looked for the girls in a few hotels in Tulsipur on Tuesday on request of the guardians but they were not found.
