The Lutheran World Relief has constructed new houses for 51 families of Dhanpalthan rural municipality, who has been affected by the floods last monsoon.
The homeless families in Baluwabadi, Dadar tole and Khayar tole received new houses that cost a total of 17 million rupees, according to LWR local program coordinator Joyal Soren. The house construction comprised the foundation, the pillars and the roof, while the remaining work was done by the families themselves.
"I'm very happy to get a home", 50-year-old Malho Marandi of Dhanpal-6 said. His family had lost all food and clothing in the floods.
The remaining families in the area also received income-generating training and equipment, according to Soren. The organization has also been providing training to the flood-affected farmers.
Basant Rishidev in Dhanpal-3 received Rs. 15,000 as seed money to run a grocery store while Mahesh Rishidev received equipment worth Rs. 40,000 to run a vehicle repair center. The organization has also provided financial assistance to build toilets at the Danwati foundation school and the Madarsa Nurani foundation school.
