As many as 216 people were benefited from a free health and eye checkup camp set up at Prajapati Tol, Lokanthali in Madhyapur Thimi-1 on Saturday.
The health and eye check-up camp were organized by the Siddhikali Youth, a local youth group. It was run by the B.P. Eye Foundation in association with the Child ENT Hospital and Rehabilitation Service, and Lions Club of New Baneshwar.
Among the beneficiaries were 113 women and 103 men. A team of specialists from Child ENT Hospital and Rehabilitation Service provided eye checkup service at the health camp.
Rakesh Prajapati, the president of Siddhikali Youth, said that the health camp was organized with the objective of spreading public awareness on eye health and care among the locals.
Among the 194 people who underwent eye check-up, five were diagnosed with cataract problem. They have been referred to Child ENT Hospital and Rehabilitation Service for undergoing surgery for removal of the cataract and arrangements would be made for providing treatment services at the subsidized rate, according to Prajapati.
