A national level JR KBS Heritage Trail Race -2018 is to be organized in Jumla from January 15, 2018.
This information was given out at a press meet held here Wednesday. The 12-kilometer long Heritage Race - 2018 is being organized by the Karnali Sports Club, Jumla and the sponsorship of JR Karnali Boarding.
President of the Karnali Sports Club, Saroj Shahi said the race has been organized to give the message that it was possible to organize such sports events in Jumla also, in the context of athletes from Jumla participating in various athletics games and establishing their repute nationally.
Apart from this, Shahi said, the main objective of the Heritage Trail Race is to protect and promote the art and culture of the Karnali region through sports. Shai added that both men and women can take part in the race. The organizers expect around 60 athletes from all sectors will participate in the race. The expenditure for organizing the race is estimated to be Rs 125,000.
The race will take place along the trail passing by the temples and shrines, hills, forests and slopes and valleys within the Chandannath municipality area.
The athletes coming out first, second and third in the race will take away home Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively along with trophy and medals.
