At least two persons have been killed after a massive fire broke out at a petroleum gas factory in Patelnagar of Birgunj Sub Metropolitan City-24 in Parsa district Wednesday morning.
The fire that started at 6 am today engulfed Super Gas Udhyog Ltd based in Bhawanipur of Birgunj-18. According to the police, the fire broke out due to the leakage of gas from the gas storage tank. It has entirely gutted the fire engine that was dispatched for dousing the fire.
The settlements nearby areas have been evacuated to some four kilometers from the incident.
According to SP Santi Kumar Karki, the gas leakage occurred at the time of transferring gas from the bullet to plants.
The identity of the victims is yet to be disclosed, said the police. The injured persons including Amika Patel and security guard Sandeep Nepal have been taken to Birgunj Health Care Hospital for treatment.
Locals at the safer locations are still panicked after the incident.The factory that came into operation seven years ago belongs to one Abulekh Ansari. He is also the operator of Birgunj Health Care Hospital.
