Honey production up in Dang

Honey production has increased this year as compared to previous year in Dang district. According to Dang Chairman of Federation of Nepal Beekeepers, Bishnuraj Shrestha, honey production increased by 100 tons this year as compared to previous year. A total of 320 tons of honey was produced this year. Shrestha said that beekeeping farmers harvested honey up to three times this year. According to the Federation, there are 15,000 beehives in the district and 650 farmers are involved in beekeeping. The district consumed only 20 percent honey out of its total production. Shrestha said that the honey produced in Dang is exported to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Itahari, Butwal, Syangja, Palpa and Nepalgunj. Honey is being sold at Rs 400 per kg in the district.
