The touristic site Beldhunga located at the top of Bhakimli, Beni Municipality-3 of Myagdi district has become popular with domestic visitors.
Domestic tourists, mostly the youth, have started visiting Beldhunga of Bhakimli from Beni, forming groups to see the site, after the area, which was in the shadows for long, was publicized.
Groups of youth from Baglung and Parbat traveled on motorcycles to Beldhunga via Sworgashram in Bhakimli in the last two weeks.
"The visitors have started traveling to Beldhunga and budget is needed for constructing a trekking route," said Bhoj Bahadur GC, a school teacher at Bhakimli.
Rajesh Gharti, the member of one of the youth group that visited Beldhunga, said the place is very attractive, and trekking route needs to be constructed and homestay facilities promoted in the area for further popularizing it.
"One can get a view of five districts. Watching the wide landscape sitting on top of a big boulder that is in the shape of the wood apple fruit is really mesmerizing," Gharti shared his experience of sightseeing from Beldhunga.
One can see most places of Myagdi district as well as places in Baglung, Parbat, Kaski and Gulmi districts. The most spectacular sight from here is of the Himalayas, including the Mt Dhawalagiri.
Although with immense possibilities of being developed into a major tourism destination, Beldhunga is still not widely-known due to lack of publicity and tourism infrastructure.
Beldhunga is about 45 minutes walk from Sworgashram, a religious site. The visitor can get an impressive view of about a dozen mountain peaks including Dhawalagiri, Gurja, Churen, Nilgiri, walking through dense rhododendron forest.
Beldhunga, which is located on the top of the hill can accommodate some 30 persons at a time, offering them a panoramic view of the Himalayas and the stunning site of the rolling hills and valleys.
It is believed that Beldhunga is a place where the ancient seven Hindu sages meditated.
