Winter cold has set in, in the entire country including the Kathmandu Valley, with the fall in the temperature.
The temperature in the Kathmandu Valley plummeted to 2.8 degrees Celsius Saturday. It was measured 3.4 degrees Celsius Friday. Open spaces in the Valley were covered by frost.
According to meteorologist Meen Kumar Aryal, cold has relatively increased throughout the country due to current atmospheric condition and not because of a new weather system.
"Increase in cold in winter is usual, but the temperature has relatively gone down and frost occurs due to the impact of the high-pressure area as the Valley's sky is clear in the night."
Since the past few days, there has been a slight change in the weather pattern in the hilly areas while fog has covered the mid-tarai, causing the increase in the cold.
Improvement in weather in these regions has been forecasted from Sunday morning, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.
According to meteorologist Aryal, the temperature in the Valley will further drop to zero degree Celsius.
Saturday was the coldest day of the year so far.
Prevention from cold has been suggested for children and aged people.
On Saturday, Jumla recorded the minimum temperature -4 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature 25 degrees Celsius was measured in Dipalyal.
