Prime Minister Balen Shah has held discussions with Nepali Congress leaders ahead of his trip to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
PM Shah met Nepali Congress Vice-president Bishwa Prakash Sharma and parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Monday.
According to the prime minister’s secretariat, PM Shah invited representatives of the main opposition party for consultations ahead of his address to the UN General Assembly.
Sharma said that they presented the Nepali Congress's views to the prime minister on what issues would be appropriate for him to raise at the UN General Assembly.
“We presented the views of party President Gagan Thapa and the Nepali Congress as a whole to the prime minister. We also wanted to convey the message that the entire country stands with the prime minister. We expect the prime minister to internationalize the Bhotekoshi disaster and succeed in drawing the world’s attention to it. When he explains it to the United States, may it recall the pain of Texas while understanding the Bhotekoshi disaster,” Sharma said.
PM Shah is scheduled to depart for the United States on Tuesday afternoon to attend the UN General Assembly.
