The government is set to recommend ambassadors to India, China, the United States, and several other countries.
A Cabinet meeting has been called for 3 p.m. on Friday to recommend candidates for ambassadorial appointments.
Ambassadorial posts remain vacant in the diplomatic missions in 17 countries, including India and China, after the government led by Balen Shah recalled ambassadors appointed by the previous government under KP Sharma Oli.
It is not yet certain whether ambassadors for all 17 missions will be recommended on Friday.
According to a source, the government is preparing to recommend Nischal Nath Pandey as ambassador to India, Chiran Jung Thapa to the United States, and Kalyan Sharma to China.
The names recommended by the government will undergo a parliamentary hearing.
After being approved through the parliamentary hearing process, the nominations will be sent to the respective countries for agrément, or formal consent.
Once consent is received, the appointment process for the ambassadors will be completed.
Prior to recommending the appointments, the prime minister's secretariat even called the proposed ambassadors to the office for a meeting.
