Koshi Chief Minister Karki wins vote of confidence

Chief Minister of Koshi province Hikmat Karki has secured a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.

In the voting held on Monday in the provincial assembly, Karki received 57 votes in favor of his confidence motion.

Members of the provincial assembly from the CPN-UML and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) voted for him.

The Koshi Provincial Assembly has 93 seats, of which 92 are currently filled.

The UML has 40 members in the provincial assembly, while the NCP has 17.

Members of the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party in the provincial assembly, voted against Chief Minister Karki’s confidence motion.

Of the 29 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, 22 voted against the motion.

Lawmakers from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), which has five members including the speaker, remained neutral during the voting.

Nirmala Limbu, the only provincial assembly member from the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, was not present at the meeting.
