Dr Devendra Khatri has been appointed as the vice-chairman of the Medical Education Commission.
Prime Minister and Chairman of the Commission, Balen Shah, appointed Dr Khatri to the position.
Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the co-chairman of the Commission, presented Khatri with his appointment letter at the ministry on Tuesday.
Before this appointment, the vice-chairperson's post had been vacant at the Commission. Former vice-chairman Shree Krishna Giri had been assigned the responsibility of acting vice-chairman until further arrangements were made.
After the government issued an ordinance making special provisions for the removal of public officials, Commission Vice-chairman Dr Anjani Kumar Jha and other officials were removed from their positions. The post of vice-chairperson had remained vacant since then.
