Durga Prasai, who is preparing to dissolve the Rastriya, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan and launch a new political party together with Dhawal Shumsher Rana, has said that he was taken into custody 14 times over the past one-and-a-half years and spent nearly a year in detention.
Speaking at an event organized in Jamal on Sunday to provide information about the proposed nationalist political force, Prasai said, “It turns out that I spent almost a year in detention during the last one and a half years.”
He claimed that he spent nearly a year in jail during the tenures of KP Sharma Oli, Sushila Karki, and Balen Shah as prime ministers.
“In Nepal’s history, I am the person to have been released the most times through habeas corpus petitions. I have already been released 11 times,” Prasai said.
He maintained that he has not done anything that would require him to go into hiding.
Prasai also said that Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden had taken disciplinary action against several leaders, including Dil Bikash Rajbhandari.
"Rajendra Lingden took action against the very person whose house serves as the party office," he said. "Dilbikash and Dhaval Shamsher were gems for the RPP."
