Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is set to clarify Prime Minister Balendra Shah's remarks during a meeting of the House of Representatives.
Recently, PM Shah commented in Parliament that Nepal, too, had encroached on Indian land. Opposition parties had been obstructing House proceedings in protest against that statement.
The opposition parties have now agreed to hear the foreign minister's position on the issue. However, the Shram Sanskriti Party has maintained that the prime minister himself should provide an explanation.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane had proposed that the foreign minister answer questions in Parliament on behalf of the prime minister.
Initially, opposition parties had insisted that the foreign minister should only present a written statement from the prime minister.
However, following RSP's request, they agreed to hear the foreign minister's clarification regarding the prime minister's remarks.
Following this understanding, the House of Representatives meeting has resumed.
