Prime Minister Balen Shah is set to expand his Cabinet on Tuesday.
PM Shah has recommended the appointment of new ministers for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Innovation.
Dipa Dahal, the prime minister's press and investigation expert, informed Setopati that the recommendations for the two ministerial appointments have already been made.
Sudan Gurung has been recommended for the post of home minister, while Mahabir Pun has been recommended as minister for innovation.
Gurung previously served as home minister for 27 days but resigned after questions were raised regarding the source of his assets and share investments. An investigation was subsequently launched against him. The Cabinet has decided to formally accept the investigation committee’s report on Tuesday.
Gurung was elected to the House of Representatives from Gorkha-1 in the election held on March 5.
Meanwhile, Mahabir Pun is an independent lawmaker elected from Myagdi. He previously served as education minister in the government led by Sushila Karki.
